About Melissa

Melissa Resnick Rotman, M.A., CCC-SLP
Melissa Resnick earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from the University of Pennsylvania. She received her Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology from New York University. She is certified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and State of New York and is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. She is also licensed to practice in schools in New York (Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities).

Melissa has gained experience working in a variety of therapeutic and educational settings. These include an outpatient pediatric medical hospital, a private practice, a NYC public school with an inclusion model for children with motor speech disorders, a NYC public school with an inclusion program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, a private special education school for children with language-based learning disabilities and Early Intervention.
Melissa's clinical experience includes working with children with a variety of communication disorders and related medical conditions, including childhood apraxia of speech, dysarthria, articulation and phonological disorders, stuttering, voice, language-based learning disabilities, preschool language disorders, selective mutism, autism spectrum disorders, cleft lip and palate, and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
Melissa has trained in a number of programs to incorporate various skills into her intervention. Some of these include PROMPT Treatment Method, Lindamood Bell Learning Processes including Seeing Stars, LIPS, and Visualizing and Verbalizing, David Hyerle’s Thinking Maps, Victoria Greene’s Framing Your Thoughts, Judith Hochman’s Teaching Basic Writing Skills, Steven Gutstein’s Relationship Development Intervention, Michelle Garcia Winner’s Social Thinking, Carol Gray’s Comic Strip Conversations and Social Stories, Augmentative and Alternative Communication Devices/Programs (Mercury device with Boardmaker Speaking Dynamically Pro software, DynaVox device with DynaVox software, DynaVox Tango device with InterAACt technology, iPad device with TOBII Sono Flex Application, Intellitools’ Classroom Suite software) and Applied Behavior Analysis/Positive Behavior Support.
For leisure, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband and two young sons, and friends, cycling or running, curling up with a good book on her couch or whipping up a delicious dish in her kitchen.
